Our communities are in the midst of an opioid crisis nationwide and it has been more than 10 years since we have gathered. Our goal is to discover/share best practices from around the country to address all of the issues effectively. You can sponsor lifesaving work.
On October 3-5, national leaders in Harm Reduction and Drug Policy are very excited to be staging Stimulus 2018: Drugs, Policy and Practice in Canada. Alberta’s harm reduction programs are joined by national experts from the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition, the Canadian Association of People who Use Drugs, the Canadian AIDS Society, Association Québécoise des Centres D’intervention en Dépendance and the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network to plan, implement and evaluate this national conference.
Stimulus 2018 is expected to have between 1,250 and 1,500 participants. The people who will attend include nurses, social workers, people who use drugs, physicians, corrections staff, front-line workers, researchers, and others from across the country. Traditionally at our events, we keep registration costs as low as possible so as many people as possible can attend. Many are working in a non-profit capacity. We will demonstrate community action and community development by providing numerous scholarships. Some other areas of expense include bringing in plenary speakers, translation and interpretation services, conference programs/bags, venue, audio/visual and refreshments.
