This 2011 film, examines the stories of Peer Workers, clients and staff from two organizations in Toronto: The Regent Park Community Health Centre and Street Health. It focuses on how the Crack Users Project (CUP), a harm reduction initiative, led to healthier outcomes and defied stigmas about substance users and street involved persons. The making of “Harm Reduction” served as inspiration for cast and crew to make “The Stairs”: several scenes are also used in the later film.
